Digital SAT for Pakistani Students: Format and How Universities Use It

Many Pakistani universities accept the SAT. Here is how the digital SAT works and where it helps you.

The digital SAT format

SectionTimeScore
Reading and Writing64 minutes200–800
Math70 minutes200–800
  • Total: 2 hours 14 minutes, with a 10-minute break between sections
  • Total score: 400–1600
  • Adaptive: each section has two modules. How you do in the first module decides the difficulty of the second.

How Pakistani universities use SAT

  • IBA Karachi: admits SAT candidates only through its own SAT merit list for top scorers.
  • LUMS: SAT, ACT or LCAT is mandatory for the business school, with no minimum score.
  • FAST: accepts SAT in place of its own admission test.
  • IoBM: students with at least 550 in Math and 550 in Reading & Writing may be exempt from its test.

Is SAT right for you?

SAT suits students who are strong in English reading and comfortable with Maths, especially A-Level students applying to several universities. If you are aiming mainly for IBA, the IBA test is still the main route.
