MDCAT 2027 Subject-Wise Strategy: Where the 180 Marks Come From

MDCAT 2026 had 180 MCQs. Knowing where they come from tells you where your hours should go.

The split (MDCAT 2026)

SubjectMCQsShare
Biology8145%
Chemistry4525%
Physics3620%
English95%
Logical Reasoning95%

Biology: the score maker (81 MCQs)

Biology decides most MDCAT results. Read the syllabus line by line; many questions test exact facts from the textbook. Revise in cycles and test every chapter.

Chemistry: the gap closer (45 MCQs)

Chemistry mixes facts and short calculations. Students who are strong in Biology often lose their lead here. Practise numericals weekly, not just before the test.

Physics: the one most students fear (36 MCQs)

Physics carries 36 marks. Focus on concepts and formula-based MCQs. Even moving from 18 to 26 out of 36 changes your aggregate noticeably.

English and Logical Reasoning (18 MCQs)

These 18 marks are the quickest to improve. Short daily practice is enough. Do not skip them.

A weekly rhythm that works

  • Biology: most days
  • Chemistry and Physics: alternate days
  • English and reasoning: 20 minutes daily
  • One full test a week, then fix the weakest chapter

There is no negative marking, so attempt every question. See How to calculate your MDCAT aggregate.
